New Location in West Seneca, NY

We are excited to announce that Back 2 You Speech Language Pathology has a new location in West Seneca, NY! With its family-friendly community and variety of activities, West Seneca offers the perfect environment for children to explore, grow, and develop their language skills.

To celebrate our new home, we’re highlighting some of the fantastic opportunities right here in West Seneca that parents can use to stimulate their child’s language development. Everyday outings can be turned into rich language-learning experiences that are both fun and effective!

1. Visit the West Seneca Public Library

The West Seneca Public Library is a wonderful resource for families. Attending storytime sessions introduces your child to new vocabulary, storytelling, and the joy of reading. Reading books aloud helps build comprehension, encourages conversation, and improves listening skills.

Language Tip: After borrowing books, talk about the pictures and retell the story together. Ask open-ended questions like, “What do you think happens next?” or “Why did the character feel that way?” This encourages your child to think, use their imagination, and expand their language.

2. Explore Local Restaurants

West Seneca has a variety of local family-friendly restaurants perfect for a fun outing. Dining out provides a natural environment for practicing social skills like asking for food, saying “please” and “thank you,” and engaging in small talk.

Language Tip: Encourage your child to help order their meal or describe what they see on the menu. Talk about their food using descriptive words, such as, “This pizza is hot, cheesy, and delicious!” Use these opportunities to build vocabulary around foods, flavors, and textures.

3. Cool Off at the West Seneca Splash Pad & Pool (Summer Activity)

In the summer months, the West Seneca Splash Pad and pool are fantastic places for active play. Running, splashing, and swimming provide great opportunities for your child to engage with peers, listen to instructions, and describe their experiences.

Language Tip: While playing, introduce action words like “splash,” “dive,” and “swim.” Use phrases like, “Let’s pour the water,” or “Look how fast you are running!” Encourage them to talk about what they’re doing and what they see.

4. Visit the Playground

West Seneca is home to several beautiful playgrounds that offer endless opportunities for imaginative play and social interaction. Playgrounds are natural language-rich environments where kids can make friends, take turns, and problem-solve together.

Language Tip: Engage with your child as they play. Narrate their actions (“You’re climbing so high!”) and ask questions like, “What are you building in the sand?” Encourage imaginative scenarios like, “Pretend we’re on a pirate ship. What do pirates say?”

5. Check Out the West Seneca Farmers Market

The West Seneca Farmers Market is a great way to introduce your child to new foods, colors, and smells while supporting local businesses. Walking through the market provides endless opportunities for conversation and exploration.

Language Tip: Talk to your child about what you see and smell. Use descriptive language like, “These tomatoes are red and juicy,” or “The flowers smell so sweet.” Let them interact with vendors by asking questions like, “How much does this cost?” or “What kind of fruit is this?”
